Boomer’s Mock Draft (v2.0) Round 2 – 12/4/2010
Round 2
33). St Louis Rams – CB Kareem Jackson – Alabama
The Rams secondary is dire and Jackson has terrific upside. He and Ron Bartell can lock down the edges.
34). Detroit Lions – CB Kyle Wilson – Boise State
Much like the Rams, the Lions have bodies at corner but no stars. Wilson is tough and has upside.
35). Tampa Bay Buccaneers – WR Demaryius Thomas – Georgia Tech
Thomas has star potential and immediately gives Freeman a downfield target.
36). Kansas City Chiefs – FS Chad Jones – LSU
Can pair with Raider Killer Jarrad Page to give the Chiefs a very aggressive pair of safeties.
37). Philadelphia Eagles – OL Maurkice Pouncey – Florida
Jamaal Jackson is coming off an ACL and Pouncey can fill in there till he returns, then shift to guard.
38). Cleveland Browns – QB Colt McCoy – Texas
He has unquestionable talent to move the ball with hand and foot and should start relatively early.
39). Oakland Raiders – DT Brian Price – UCLA
The Raiders are in dire need of interior DL help. Price is an immediate starter.
40). San Diego Chargers – NT Terrence Cody – Alabama
The Chargers have 5 NT’s on the roster, only one weighs over 310. Cody rotates with Vaughn Martin as they replace Jamal Williams.
41). Buffalo Bills – QB Tim Tebow – Florida
They could add someone like Cam Thomas but Tebow is the future for a team that likes him a good deal.
42). Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DE – Carlos Dunlap – Florida
As I said earlier, the Bucs ends are horrific. Dunlap has massive potential. Can he put it together?
43). Miami Dolphins – OLB Jason Worilds – Virginia Tech
Fast rising Hokie has three down ability and can play in space at a real need spot.
44). New England Patriots – WR Arrelious Benn – Illinois
Randy Moss isn’t getting any younger. Benn looks like a future #1.
45). Denver Broncos – FS Morgan Burnett – Georgia Tech
Terrific sophomore tape, Burnett has the ability to be a quality starter. McDaniels likes ball players and Burnett is one of those.
46). New York Giants – OG Jon Asamoah – Illinois
Perfect replacement for Kevin Boothe as they look to start Will Beatty out at RT.
47). New England Patriots – TE Rob Gronkowski – Arizona
Back issues resolved, he has great talent. Patriots are TE starving.
48). Carolina Panthers – DE Alex Carrington – Arkansas State
They need help at end after losing Julius Peppers and giving up 2010 #1 for Everette Brown.
49). San Francisco 49ers – S Taylor Mays – USC
Singletary is a big fan and Mays would likely shift to the strong side with budding star Dashon Golden.
50). Kansas City Chiefs – WR Golden Tate – Notre Dame
Another target for Matt Cassel, giving them three good wideouts. Tate can play in the slot and helps in return game.
51). Houston Texans – CB Patrick Robinson – FSU
Texans have a number of young late round corners, but no bell cow. The speedy Seminole is great value here.
52). Pittsburgh Steelers – OG John Jerry – Ole Miss
Jerry is flying under the radar some and gives the Steelers an immediate starter inside.
53). New England Patriots – TB Jahvid Best – California
Back to back to back offensive weapons for Tom Brady. Will give them real ability out of backfield.
54). Cincinnati Bengals – FS Nate Allen – South Florida
The Bengals have the best corner duo in the NFL but need help at safety. Allen is value here.
55). Philadelphia Eagles – LB Navorro Bowman – Penn State
If you’re going to fix a position, fix it right. Bowman and Weatherspoon with Bradley make this group elite.
56). Green Bay Packers – CB Brandon Ghee – Wake Forest
Ghee has speed to burn and would pair with Woodson as Al Harris recovers.
57). Baltimore Ravens – TE Jimmy Graham – Miami
Todd Heap can’t stay healthy and Graham’s upside is off the charts.
58). Arizona Cardinals – OLB Sergio Kindle – Texas
Despite questions marks in space, Kindle is good value here for the 3-4 Cards.
59). Dallas Cowboys – WR Dexter McCluster – Ole Miss
McCluster could make this offense sing with his versatility.
60). Seattle Seahawks – TB Jonathan Dwyer – Georgia Tech
Powerful runner with home run ability gives Whitehurst opportunity to get ball downfield.
61). New York Jets – WR Damian Williams – USC
Jets run game is secure but Sanchez could use more targets. Cue Williams.
62). Minnesota Vikings – CB Chris Cook – Virginia
Big bodied corner with versatility who can contribute immediately.
63). Indianapolis Colts – DT Lamarr Houston – Texas
Perfect value pick here for a team looking to bolster it’s interior front.
64). New Orleans Saints – OLB Thaddeus Gibson – Ohio State
Will slip straight into hole left by Scott Fujita.
